Warm Up at PS 1 - The 2007 Warm Up Courtyard Installation by OBRA Architects

(c) OBRA Architects
PS 1's Warm Up party lets New Yorkers beat the heat every Saturday afternoon in July and August, by rocking out in Long Island City. The dance party in the museum's courtyard is a highlight of the New York summer. Every summer the music line-up is mixed-up fun, and every year a new architect designs a giant installation for courtyard play.

Hundreds attend each Saturday, and thousands of New Yorkers and out-of-towners will come to Long Island City this summer to party and groove.

  • When - Saturdays, July 7 - September 8, 2012 2-9 p.m.
  • Schedule - DJs and music for Warm Up 2012
  • Cost - $15, includes admission to PS 1's exhibitions.
  • Tickets - Pay at the door, or order in advance online. Tickets go on sale June 18.
  • Free for MoMA Members - Bring your MoMA card for free admission to Warm Up.
  • Free for Long Island City residents - Bring proof of residency
  • Architect 2012 - Each year PS 1 holds a contest to select the architectural firm that will design a structure for the Warm Up courtyard. The 2012 winner of the MoMA/P.S.1 Young Architects Program is the architectural firm HWKN with Wendy, an environment that actually cleans the air of pollutants in the courtyards as the party rages.
  • Free Museum Admission - The $15 admission fee for Warm Up includes admission to the museum from noon.
  • Directions - PS 1 Visitors Guide - E, 7, G subways
  • Map - Google Map to PS 1
  • Weather - It will be hot and humid most Saturdays, even hotter in the crowd. Keep hydrated. Wear a hat. Keep cool under the chimneys?
After the Warm Up party, head over to Vernon Blvd for dinner and drinks. Our post-party faves are: cold beer at LIC Bar, cocktails and dinner at Lounge 47, and French bistro-fare at Tournesol.
