Shigeko Hirakawa's Tree of Photosynthesis is one of the more subtle installations of Jamaica Flux in 2007. The artist has adorned a tree in King Manor Park with purple plastic discs.

At a glance, the color is natural, part of the tree. At second glance, it's plastic litter, stuck in the branches above an overused, underfunded city park, like so many plastic bags. At third glance, the sunlight shimmers through it and it's a fine work of art.
