MulchFest at NYC Parks - January 7 and 8, 2012 Bring your Christmas tree to a participating park and get it chopped to bits. NYC Parks will mulch your tree and give you a bag of mulch to use in your garden. There are 11 sites in Queens. David Cronenberg Series at Moving Image Museum - January 21-February 12, 2012- The many twisted movies of David Cronenberg are the subject at the Moving Image Museum this January. He brought us such sci-fi-horror as Dead Ringers and Videodrome, plus The Fly and Crash. Getting twisted in your seats like a perfect way to while away a winter evening in Astoria.

You TANGO? at Thalia Spanish Theatre - January 27 - March 18, 2012- Thalia Theatre brings big names in tango to Sunnyside, including Latin Grammy winner Raul Jaurena. The theater calls it a " exploring the five senses with new music," which means you may need to bring your dancing feet.

Lunar New Year/Spring Festival in Flushing - February 4, 2012- The Flushing Lunar New Year Parade is a great way to spend a winter Saturday. It's also the best time to combine a parade. fireworks, dragons, and dim sum when you're in downtown Flushing. Sure, it's in February this year, but that's close enough!
