NYC Marathon in Queens - November 2, 2008- Get to Vernon Boulevard for the best NYC Marathon party. The sidewalks and great restaurants and bars on Vernon aren't mobbed like those along the route in Manhattan, and it's the halfway point, a place where runners need that extra cheer.
Film Fest
Queens International Film Festival (QIFF) - November 6-9, 2008- The sixth annual Queens International Film Festival offers over 100 indie film screenings. Along with films made across the globe, there's Dispatch, on the struggles of cabbies in a Queens car service. All events are at the Crowne Plaza LaGuardia Hotel, not the easiest place to get to by public transportation, but at least you'll have an excuse to stay the night?
Balloons Over Flushing Meadows
Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloon Practice - November 8, 2008- According to Unisphere Inc., the non-profit Flushing Meadows Park support group, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons are coming back to the park this November 8. Last year the balloons had their first practice in Flushing Meadows and were a real treat. As soon as I hear official word and times, I'll post here.
Giant Topiary Bear Comes Alive and Swing Dances With Christmas Trees?
(Or more accurately) Holiday Kick-Off Party at Atlas Park Mall - November 15, 2008- The mall does such a good job with so many of their events. Its unique take on the holidays is Mr. Bemberlinx, a 20-foot-high bush in the shape of a teddy bear decked out in holiday gear. This year the theme is swing music, with the The Cherry Poppin Daddys performing, plus fireworks and a parade.

LICBDC Annual Luncheon and Trade Show - November 12, 2008- The biggest business networking event in Queens is an annual affair run by the Long Island City Business Development Corporation (LICBDC). The name says Long Island City, but entrepreneurs borough-wide can find good connects at the free trade show.
