NYC Bocce Championships

October 3-4, 2009

By John Roleke, About.com

The 15th annual NYC Bocce Championships will be held the first weekend in October with the borough championships played on Saturday and the city-wide champs on Sunday.

The Queens borough qualifying round is Saturday, October 3, at Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village. It's free to play. On Sunday, all the borough winners meet for a single elimination city-wide tournament across the water in the Bronx at Pelham Bay Park.

On Saturday, keep your energy up during the tournament by eating a Sicilian slice at Rosa's Pizzeria on Metropolitan Avenue, a short walk from Juniper Valley. I like the style of sauce on top of the cheese.
