Fresh Produce at Farmers Markets in Jackson Heights and Jamaica

Queens now has five farmers markets where you can buy fresh produce grown in the region. Three new ones in Hunters Point/Long Island City, Astoria, and Glendale opened in July 2005 and will be open until the fall. The older markets open in the late spring and also run through the fall. Produce availability changes as the season progresses.

Astoria Farmers Market

The Astoria Farmers Market opened for the first time on July 6, 2005.
  • 31st Avenue between 12th and 14th Streets, Astoria, NY
  • Subway: N / W to Broadway > walk north and toward water

  • Open: July 6 - November 23, 2005
  • Times: Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Long Island City Farmers Market

The Long Island City Farmers Market is in Hunters Point, and opened for the first time on July 9, 2005.
  • 48th Avenue at Vernon Boulevard, Long Island City, NY
  • Subway: 7 to Vernon / Jackson > walk a block or two north on Vernon
  • Open: July 9 - November, 2005
  • Times: Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Glendale Atlas Park Farmers Market

The Farmers Market in Glendale is also new, having opened for the first time on July 9, 2005. It's part of the Shops at Atlas Park, a shopping development.

Jackson Heights Greenmarket

The Jackson Heights farmers market is held in Travers Park and is known for the "rugelach guy" selling sweet and savory baked goods.

The Jamaica Farmers Market open in late April selling flowers and plants. Fruits and vegetables become available as the season progresses.
