Question: Is There a 24-Hour Vet in Queens?
Hopefully you'll never need an animal hospital, but it's good to know where the nearest 24-hour vet is in the case of after-hours emergencies. Ask your vet about a good emergency action plan for your pet.
Answer: There are two 24-hour animal hospitals in Queens, and one just over the 59th Street Bridge in Manhattan:

NYC Veterinary Specialists in Forest Hills

This new hospital is as good as it gets. It's big, clean, efficient, and welcoming. I brought my cat here after she was hit by a car. The cat didn't make it, but the doctor was wonderful -- she even gave advice on how to break the news to my kids. In the mail two days later, I got a handwritten condolences card from the doctor and two other staffers.

Elmhurst Animal Emergency Center

87-06 Queens Blvd (at 55th Ave), Elmhurst, NY, 718-426-4444

Animal Medical Center

This one's not in Queens, but since it's just over the 59th Street Bridge, it might be a better bet for pets in Long Island City or Astoria.
