The Bottom Line
Sweetleaf is a tiny cafe that serves coffee lovers in Long Island City. Opened in 2008, Sweet Leaf serves Stumptown coffee, and cares about each pour of java. The barista even crafts a leaf shape on the foam of cppucinos and lattes.
At this coffee specialist, the vibe and the music is cool -- vintage meets techno, and you're welcome to hang out. It's a great spot if you need to caffeinate after a visit to the very close P.S.1 . It's not a cheap coffee ($1.75 for a regular cup, $2.50+ for coffee drinks), but you're paying for an experience, one with more soul than Starbucks.

Guide Review - Sweetleaf - Cafe in Long Island City
The Sweetleaf cafe -- coffee specialist -- is a welcome, ecclectic addition to the Hunters Point, Long Island City, neighborhoods. There are only a few tables, and though they are new, it feels like it has been there forever, unlike the condo towers that have sprouted down Jackson Avenue.
Theere is a short menu of sandwiches, including a pressed cuban sandwhich. The chocolate chip cookies are rich, and there are more sweet baked goods to savor. They also sell bagged coffee beans, and sponsor coffee tastings.
