Passover in Queens, New York

Every year, Jews in Queens and across the world celebrate Passover, commemorating the escape from slavery in Egypt. The Seder meal is the central ritual of the holiday and a time to come together with family and friends.

Here are a few of the communal Seders being held in Queens this year. Make sure to call for more information and reservations.

Community Seder in Bayside:

The Jewish Center of Oak Hills hosts a community seder on the second night of Passover, Saturday, April 7, 2012. (11 a.m., reservations required, $25-50, 718-631-0100, 50-35 Cloverdale Blvd, Oakland Gardens (Bayside) NY 11364)

Community Seder in Forest Hills:

The Reform Temple of Forest Hills hosts Passover second night Seder. (April 7, 2012, 5:30 p.m., $48/$63, reservations required, 71-11 112th St, Forest Hills, NY, 718-261-2900).

Passover in Flushing:

Free Synagogue of Flushing holds a Second Night Community Seder on Saturday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. Rabbi Michael Weisser and Cantor Steven Pearlston will tell the Passover story in verse and song. Community Passover Seder in Rego Park:

Rego Park Jewish Center hosts a Community Passover Seder the first night of Passover, Friday, April 6, 2012. The evening begins with services at 6:30 p.m., followed by seder at 7:45 P.M. $80/$40. The Rego Park Jewish Center is located at 97-30 Queens Blvd., Rego Park, NY. Call 718-459-1000 for reservation.

Passover in Astoria and Long Island City:

The Astoria Center of Israel hosts its Communal Passover Seder on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at its landmark home (27-35 Crescent St, Long Island City, NY 11102, 718-278-2680), $40/$60.

On Friday, April 6, 2012 at 7 p.m. the Chabad of Long Island City hosts a Passover Seder. The evening includes a traditional meal. RSVP online. $50 per person - "Nobody turned away for lack of funds." (Chabad of Long Island City, 47-31 Vernon Blvd, Long Island City, NY, 718-609-0066)

Passover in Jackson Heights

On Saturday, April 7, 2012, at 6 p.m., Kehillat Tikvah will celebrate the second night of Passover with annual Community Seder at St. Mark's Church, 33-50 82nd St, at 34th Ave, Jackson Heights. More info.
