Passover in Queens, New York

Every year, Jews in Queens and across the world celebrate Passover, commemorating the escape from slavery in Egypt. The Seder meal is the central ritual of the holiday and a time to come together with family and friends.

Here are a few of the communal Seders being held in Queens this year. Make sure to call for more information and reservations.

Passover in Kew Gardens Hills: Congregation Etz Chaim of Kew Gardens Hills holds a communal Seder on the first night of Passover. (April 19, 2008, 8 p.m., contact Steve and Jen Toplan for more details, 718-261-5883.)
Community Seders in Forest Hills : The Queens Jewish Center hosts two pre-Passover meals: dinner on April 18, 2008, at 7:50 p.m., and brunch on April 19, 2008, at 9 a.m. (meals $20/adults, call for details, Queens Jewish Center, 66-05 108th St, Forest Hills, NY, 718-459-7550)

The Reform Temple of Forest Hills hosts Passover second night Seder. (April 20, 2008, 5 p.m., $73/$85, reservations required, 71-11 112th St, Forest Hills, NY, 718-261-2900). On April 27, 2008, there's a Women's Seder.

Community Seder in Bayside (Oakland Gardens): The Chabad of Northeast Queens hosts a community Seder on Tuesday. Includes full meal, wine and grape juice. Annual Seder in Flushing: The Free Synagogue of Flushing hosts its annual community Seder. No reservations accepted after April 10. (April 20, 2008, 6 p.m., $75, 41-60 Kissena Blvd, Flushing, NY, 718-961-0030)
