Celebrations and Menorah Lightings

Hanukkah (also spelled Chanukah) is from sunset, December 21, to sunset, December 29, this year. There are Hanukkah celebrations happening throughout Queens, and here are a few of the bigger events.

Lighting of Largest Menorah in Queens
The Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council sponsors the largest Hanukkah menorah in the borough. The annual "Light Up The Night - A Spectacular Chanukah Celebration" features live music, dancing, latkes and sufganiyot, and dreidels, chocolate Chanukah gelt, and special entertainment for the kids.

Chanukah Wonderland
"The Miracle of Chanukah" performed by The Small Wonder Puppet Theatre. Candlemaking, Chanukah sand art, holiday necklaces, and more Chanukah crafts. Taste sufganiyot, learn chess from Bruce the Chess Champion, and receive a Chanukah treat from Judah the Maccabee.

Chanukah/Shabbat Services and Dinner
Celebration of Shabbat and Chanukah. Shabbat at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary, followed by a catered Italian/American dinner in the ballroom. The Center is handicap-accessible and has a Sabbath elevator with access to all floors.

Share the Light - Grand Chanukah Celebration
Concert and volunteer appreciation event featuring the award winning boys choir M-Generations at the Chabad of Rego Park.

Pawfect Chanukah Celebration
Entertainment, prizes, store discounts, latkes, dreidels, and lighting of the Menorah at Atlas Park mall. First 100 attendees receive free Pawfect Chanukah gift bag. 10% of parking proceeds benefits Queens Jewish Community Council.

Hanukkah Performance at Flushing Town Hall
Louie Miranda, the bilingual singer, songwriter, and family entertainer celebrates Hanukkah with an interactive concert. Miranda performs original and traditional songs and stories from his recording Louie's Jewish Fiesta.
