A native of California who settled in New York City in 1996 (after a 17-year layover in Michigan), Sarah Kiino stumbled into Queens after being priced out of her trendy Brooklyn neighborhood. Since then, she has discovered that her new home is livelier, more diverse, and infinitely more interesting than postcard-perfect Park Slope.
Sarah is a copywriter by day, but spends most of her time thinking about her next meal. So in 2006, she launched a blog, Avenue Food, where she publishes original recipes, reviews of Queens restaurants, and occasional travel pieces. She is currently trying to work up the courage to try the lambs testicles at Cheburechnaya.
