Going out for breakfast on a weekend is a real treat. You rushed every morning on the way to work, so finally there's time to sit down and relax over a hot meal. Queens is the place for classic diner food, plus more possibilities from around the world. Enjoy these best breakfast spots over coffee.
Jackson Hole Diner — Delicious and Retro in Bayside and Jackson Heights:
This local chain serves up a mighty fine breakfast at its vintage '50s digs. Jackson Hole stands out for its fresh-squeezed juice, a sensation rarely tasted in Queens. The breakfast specials hit the spot and are a good value. The potatoes, french toast, and omelettes must receive special mention. Wash it all down with a chocolate shake. It's served with a metal cup holding enough excess for a refill.

Bagel Oasis — Breakfast to Go in Fresh Meadows:
Bagel Oasis has earned much praise for its bagels. Though smaller than most, they are cooked to perfection: crisp on the outside, chewy in the middle. Plus the staff offers efficient service and, even more importantly, seasons a most wonderful onion bagel. Too many bagel shops encrust bagels with burnt onion bits that overwhelm even coffee, but the Oasis speckles it with lightly roasted onion for a balanced taste. Add cream cheese and smile.

Just Like Mother's — A Cozy Polish Cafe in Forest Hills:
Just Like Mother's has a real homey, cafe atmosphere, and luckily for us serves a great Polish-American breakfast. Diner favorites are here, but with a twist. There's kielbasa and Krakus ham, and the bacon is cut thick (so order it crispy). The babka french toast is special, but take heed with the fruit pancakes. The berries and plums are served on the side, not cooked in. Bring your mother to Mother's. She'll think it's a real treat.

The Dosa Hutt — An Indian Breakfast Treat in Flushing:
The Dosa Hutt in Flushing, NY, serves the most amazing South Indian snack (and breakfast food) of dosas (plus iddlys and other snacks). These fried crepes filled with curried potatoes are delicious, surprisingly light, and definitely filling. A dosa is a great way to start the day. Order a mysore dosa if you want some curry fire to start your engines.
