Guide Review - Khao Homm Thai Cuisine in Woodside - Restaurant Review
It's a small, attractive restaurant, seating maybe 40 people. Lacking the heavy-duty rep of Sripraphai, you'll find most everyone is from the neighborhood, including both Irish immigrants and Thai mothers with tots in tow. If you're lucky the TV over the bar will be showing a Thai pop music concert.
Count on finding your favorite Thai dishes plus specialties like Kha Kob, or frog's legs ($10). Green curry was deeply spicy with lots of veggies and chicken chunks. Vegetarians will be happy to find mock duck in a couple forms. The Papaya Salad ($5) is deliciously astringent with lime, and the broad noodle dish of Pad Kee Mao ($6) reminded me of eating at a beach cafe in Koh Samet.
Dessert brought me back even further. The tapioca pudding was light and bubbly and topped with just a dash of salty coconut cream. A spoonful of sweet tapioca and salty coconut put the taste of tears and an instant of childhood in my mouth. Ahh!
