Colombian Independence Day Festival

Celebrate the Independence of Colombia on Sunday, July 20, in Flushing Meadows Park. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. there'll be music, food, dance, and plenty of yellow, blue, and red Colombian flags. The Park will be packed for this event as folks spend the day barbequing and kicking it. Call (718) 760-6562 for more information.

Bird Watching and Hiking in Jamaica Bay

The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is renowned as one of the largest bird sanctuaries in the northeastern United States. It is the best place in New York City to observe seasonal migration of birds, and a great place for a short hike to escape congested Queens. The best time for bird watching is from late July to late August.
