Get in the Game: Batting Cages at Astoria Sports Complex

Monday May 16, 2005
Baseball and softball fans sick of sitting in the bleachers can swing for the bleachers at Astoria Sports Complex's automated batting cages. 90 mph fast ball? Bring it on. Cool off afterwards with a fruit shake at the snack bar, or a dip in the club's indoor pool and whirlpool.

  • Astoria Sports Complex, 34-37 37th St (between 34th and 35th Aves), Astoria, NY, 718-729-7163
  • Batting cage hours: Mon–Fri 1–10 p.m.; Sat, Sun 11 a.m.–10 p.m.
  • Batting cage rental: $12/15min, $18/30min, $30/60min
  • Indoor Pool: Mon-Fri $7 per person; Sat, Sun $12; no children under 16 after 8 p.m., pool closes at 7 p.m. on weekends
Get up your strength beforehand by filling up with a tasty meal at inexpensive Arharn Thai restaurant (32-05 36th Ave at 32nd St).

Also just around the corner from Astoria Sports Complex is the Museum of the Moving Image.
