Queens has won the battle for the best burger, according to the latest issue of Time Out New York, which says Donovan's Pub in Woodside serves the best hamburger in all of New York City. I've eaten there, and can only applaud their choice. Here's my take on the best burgers in Queens.

Best Old-School Burger: Donovan's Pub
Donovan's is an old, family-centered Irish pub (in the heart of the Woodside's new Irish belt), and serves a delish burger--not pretty, just delicious and messy with burger juices. It goes great with the pub's Guinness.

Best Hipster Burger: Lounge 47
Also earning high rank from Time Out is the burger at Lounge 47 in Hunters Point, LIC. Everything Lounge 47 does is great. It is one of the best bars in Queens, hip yet actually friendly. In true hipster-style, the 47 burger comes with chipolte mayo. This is a world away from Donovan's.

Best Ethnic Burger: Bosna-Express
Another world away is Bosna-Express, a Bosnian take-out grill, in Ridgewood, serving a huge, greasy, beef-and-lamb burger, dressed with yogurt and veggies. If you somehow manage to eat a whole one in a single sitting, keep sitting. You'll have no choice.

Best Fast-Food Burger: White Castle
Who can resist the White Castle slyder? The slyder is the ultimate fast-food, pock-marked for quick steam-cooking, small and greasy to slide right down the gullet, cheap enough to let you buy a half or full dozen.
