Dragon Boat Festival
Meadow Lake @ Flushing Meadow Park
Yeah, it is meadow lake and the dragon festival. As a kid in the mid-1950′s, we’d go by bike from Elmhurst to the canal joining to the two lakes and spend the day fishing. The night before we went fishing we’d soak one of our friends backyard with soapy water and then with flashlights gather up earthworms for our bait. On the way home we’d stop off and by a 5 cent lemon ice at the Corona Ice King. Anyway, the thing I find odd about the festival is that hardly anyone looks at the races; rather, they stand on long lines to get the free handouts from the banks, etc.
