There will be music, dancing, martial arts demonstrations, an ethnic food court, and more. Bring a chair and grab the prime space at the waterside pavilion on the north side of Meadow Lake (the side closest to Unisphere).

Went to it a couple of years ago. It was hot as hell, very little shade, and the boats were so far away when they raced you really couldn’t make them out very well.
They should reschedule it for the spring or the fall, when the weather is much cooler.
The festival is held in the summer because it is a Chinese summer tradition. Plus, you should never mess with Dragons
According to Chinese tradition, it’s celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth moon of the lunar calendar — not in the scorching summer. I agree with tommykey, they should change their schedule to a cooler time of the year.
