Would you say that East Elmhurst is east of Elmhurst? Then you might also think that South Ozone Park is south of Ozone Park, or that Kew Gardens Hills is next to Kew Gardens.
The neighborhood geography of Queens is always a contentious issue, but we can be sure that East Elmhurst isn't really an accurate name. Here's more.

Thanks for the trivia & geography lesson, John!
John,
Do you know of any online map of Queens that shows the neighborhood borders clearly marked? I’ve searched and searched and came up dry. Can’t believe it’s so hard to find.
I can’t even determine a precise definition of the Forest Hills / Rego Park border, it’s as if the information is purposefully obfuscated..

Nope! Well, there are online maps showing neighborhoods, but they either aren’t accurate or detailed enough.
The problem is that “neighborhoods” and their boundaries are a social and geographic constructions, not a legal, bureaucratic, or political ones.
