Forking Fantastic

Forking Fantastic isn't just a collection of recipes, it's an inspiration. This new cookbook, by the Astoria duo that hosts the Sunday Night Dinner supper club, gives you all the mettle you'll need to have 20 of your closest friends and strangers over for a lamb roast or an oyster feast.

This is the only cookbook I've ever read where the authors curse -- which is surprising, considering how much cursing happens in a real home kitchen with real friends and family. Their real cooking and real sense of community come through loud and clear in their words and homey photos. This is a cookbok to read cover-to-cover, not via an index of recipes.

The authors are big Queens and Astoria boosters, praising the borough and its culinary strengths throughout the book. Co-author Zora O'Neill has even written for this site, highlighting her favorite markets and sandwiches in Astoria. I heartily recommend their book and look forward to creating in the ktichen the Sunday Night Dinner way.
