The Jackson Heights Food Group is an informal gang of eaters that explores the restaurants of Jackson Heights and other neighborhoods across Queens and greater NYC.

The originator and coordinator, Jeff Orlick, has a great line for the group's choice in restaurants: "sometimes adventurous, always authentic." He explains:

I started this group because I wanted people to eat with at all these great restaurants we live by. I found that I was not alone at all. The group gives people a reason to explore the neighborhood, go into restaurants that may seem intimidating, and order lots of things on the menu to get a great tasting.

It sounds like the food isn't even the biggest part of the 50-member group's success. It's all about the camaraderie in trying something new.

In my mind, the Jackson Heights Food Group earns a major thumbs up for supporting local restaurants and expanding taste buds. Cheers! If you want to join up, get in contact with Jeff at his blog.

He is a tremendously valued member of the group. It wouldn’t be the same without him nor his camera kept in a colorful soap dish.
