The annual Taste of the World was a big success at Citi Field this week. The Queens Economic Development Corporation folks outdid themselves bringing together a big, boisterous crowds of eaters, Mr. Met, and the Mayor himself.

The Marriott's Steinway Restaurant once again took top honors. The new to me,
Bantry Bay Pub of Long Island City won for Best Appetizer, and get my props for coming out of LIC's 's little Blissville neighborhood.

Dessert was won by Cascon Bakery of Whitestone, who put out the big spread of excellent cakes, cookies, and more sweets. My vote went to the Francis Lewis Pastry Shoppe and its tiramisu.

La Fusta, Argentine restaurant in Elmhurst, always makes me happy. This time they surprised me with a delicious watercress salad.

Ovelia, a Greek place in Astoria, served slices of excellent marinated skirt steak.

P.S. It was neat to see Citi Field up close, but the brick sort of reminds me of a McMansion...

Dinner at Ginos Trattoria on 35th avenue in Bayside, Queens ended with a singing telegram from this nutty madman.
Professor Dabby entered our private dining area and started to sing my favorite song, my way. I am a 77 year old man and I thought I have seen it all, I was wrong. This was the highlight of my evening. Professor Dabby Singing Grams, no words can describe this guy.
