Where in Queens? An Easy One With a Twist

Wednesday October 22, 2008
what's that face?

Okay, so this is an easy one, at least the first part. What street and intersection and neighborhood is this?

And, for the more difficult, second part, what in the world is that face above the traffic? I don't know myself. Share your knowledge and guesses in the comments, please.

(1) Joe Distefano says:

This is Woodhaven Blvd. and Jamaica Ave. Further research reveals that the face is an artwork by Kathleen McCarthy.

(2) Marilyn says:

Woodhaven Boulevard going north. The “el” is on Jamaica Avenue. ” El ” means elevated train. This is Woodhaven or Richmond Hill.

(3) Marilyn again says:

The 1990 artwork here is called Five Points of Observation by Kathleen McCarthy. It affords a view of the street from the platforms and resembles a face when seen from the street. This artwork is also located on four other Jamaica Line stations.
