If Brooklyn Is Fugheddaboudit, What's Queens?

Wednesday April 23, 2008
You've seen the slogans on the signs as you enter or leave Brooklyn: "Fugheddaboudit!" and "How Sweet It Is" and a couple others. But in Queens, the highway signs are more plain-Jane: "Entering Boro of Queens." If you could jazz them up, what would you say?

A comment on last week's post about Queens myths got me thinking about this. Kumar wrote, "the boros of Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Bronx have more of a brand name recognition than Queens." Makes sense. We all associate more with neighborhoods than the borough.

But just for fun -- and without trying to oversell the place -- I thought a good Queens slogan would be: "Queens, stay for the food" or "Queens: Spider-man's hometown" or "Queens: Don't take the Van Wyck." More?
