Queens Eats, Restaurant Roundup - Quaint, Sabry's, Ploy Thai, Vietnamese Pho, Dollar Dining, WTB Holidays
Wednesday February 20, 2008
- Quaint [Eatery Row]
A little "those-in-the-know" love for Quaint (46-10 Skillman Ave, Sunnyside, 917-779-9220), but cold drafty seating and service almost ruined the night.
- Sabry's - can i get a yum people?!??!! [Joey in Astoria]
It's a seafood feast for Sooz at Egyptian Sabry's (24–25 Steinway, Astoria, 718-721-9010).
- Ploy Thai [Eating in Translation]
Spotted: tasty larb at the Thai restaurant that "sounds like a goofy school of martial arts or an episode of I Spy." Ploy Thai (81-20 Broadway, Elmhurst, 718-205-2128)
- Vietnamese in Queens? [Chowhound]
My favorite Vietnamese in the borough -- Flushing's Pho Restaurant (3802 Prince Street, Flushing, 718-461-8686) gets the nod from the Chowhound crew.
- Dollar Dining: Roosevelt Avenue [Gut Instinct]
Some type of stunt eater looks for "10 things to eat for $1 apiece" along Roosevelt Avenue. Notice he says "things to eat;" his game isn't really about food, more about telling a gross-out story.
- WTB Holidays - Plan Your Water Taxi Beach Friday Afternoons? [QueensWest]
The chatter at the Queens West board is about all the hubbub in the neighborhood from the few thousand folks who've moved into new buildings. Host Jake is already staking out his square of Water Taxi Beach for Friday afternoon beer and burgers this summer.
