Remembering 9/11 - Six Years Later - Memorial Events in Queens

Monday September 10, 2007
Breezy Point It's hard and easy to believe that September 11 happened six years ago. It seems distant from our day-to-day lives, but the second we turn our mind to that time, the memories and the loss cut.

The borough of Queens lost many people that day in the World Trade Center, both ordinary workers who showed up to the job, and heroes of the FDNY, NYPD, Port Authority workers, and others who raced to help. Pay them heed this September 11. There are 9/11 memorial events on Tuesday evening in many neighborhoods, and there were also local events throughout the borough this past weekend.

The Juniper Valley Park Candlelight Vigil in Middle Village is always moving and well-attended. Usually the "Tribute in Light" is visible from the park.

If you know of more 9/11 events and memorials in Queens, please share in the comments.

ONLY IN THE U.S.A.

Prologue:

90th Floor: World Trade Center.

When I settled for my work,
My boss called me for a chat,
That my daughter Elisa only had,
Finished her alphabet amongst all!
And she stood first in her class,
To recite US Anthem by-heart.
My spouse is away on tour,
I thought life is great, I heard a BANG!
No smiles, but shocks, too much smoke.
That killed us, all of us all.
Elisa weeps in her class alone.
No one to take her back home.
No one to give her an embrace,
She cries, she cries, she cries alone.

My soul urges you all,
To listen to this clarion call.
That if I would be born again,
I would be born only in the USA.

CHORUS

If I would be born again
I would be born only in the USA.
If I would die ever
I would die only for the USA.

If I would be born again
I would be born only in the USA.
If I would die ever
I would die only for the USA.

VERSE1

I would be a drop of rain in the New York fire,
Or a drop of blood in these transfusion ever,
An urging soul behind the US force,
And a building block in the US loss.

CHORUS

VERSE2

I would be a glowing star in the US flag,
Or a word or a note in the US psalm,
A marching Corps to challenge a warn,
And a killing call to these cowards all.

CHORUS

If I would be born again,
I would be born only in the USA.
If I would cry ever,
I would cry only for the USA.
If I would smile ever,
I would smile only for the USA.
If I would sing ever,
I would sing only for the USA.
If I would dance ever,
I would dance only for the USA.
If I would fight ever,
I would fight only for the USA.
If I would sail ever,
I would sail only for the USA.
If I would fly ever,
I would fly only for the USA.
If I would die ever,
I would die only for the USA.

REPEAT CHORUS

REFRAIN

Till this war is won,
I would hold only bullets and guns.
Once this war is won,
I’d care only ballots, no Talibans.

CHORUS & FADE OUT
