Queens Eats - Wednesday Restaurant Roundup - Forest Hills Edition

Wednesday May 2, 2007
  • Taste of Forest Hills Was a Hit
Last weekend's Taste of Forest Hills brought a dozen central Queens restaurants to the Community House in Forest Hills Gardens. Most impressive to my tongue was DB Wine Bar Restaurant (104-02 Metropolitan Ave, Forest Hills), serving croquets and a ragout stew. Yummy stuff. Pasticcio (718-417-1544, Atlas Park), over at Atlas Park mall, continues its winning ways, and spread out a fine table. (If you haven't tried it, Pasticcio has a great upstairs space at the mall, lots of windows, and they'll soon starting making the food for the cafe in the mall's green.) More notables included La Tavernetta (7501 88th St, Glendale, 718-896-3538) and Manor Oktoberfest (718-326-2201, Atlas Park).
  • For more on the Forest Hills taste, see Steve at Queens Central.
  • best 1 Sushi [eateryROW]
New sushi joint in the neighborhood Best 1 Sushi (109-21 72nd Rd, Forest Hills, 718-897-0460) hits the spot, but what no liquor license!!?! The Japanese would never stand for such a thing.
  • Latina Cabana Express is Open [Forest Hills 72]
Can Latina Cabana Express (72-40 Austin St, 718-263-3300) buck the trend and become a neighborhood favorite? Time will tell.
