Spider-Man of Forest Hills Premieres in Astoria

Sunday April 29, 2007
Spider-man in Astoria Spider-Man 3 opens Monday, April 30, 2007, at UA Kaufman Astoria 14, filling all theaters at the multiplex. Will you be able to grab a seat next to Kirsten Dunst? Nope. But you can be on-hand outside for the star-studded premiere.

Why Astoria? Because the movie execs couldn't come to terms with Forest Hills, which is Spidey alter-ego Peter Parker's hometown. Astoria is closer to Manhattan, and was once home to the film industry (and is again).

Spider-Man 3 is not the first big motion picture to premiere recently in Astoria. The Last King of Scotland (for which Forest Whitaker won an Oscar) opened first at the Museum of the Moving Image (MMI), just blocks from the Spider-Man 3 premiere location. Sure, the film was no blockbuster, but come on, it won an Oscar. Image © Columbia Pictures. All Rights Reserved.
