- Recently on About.com - Eat Your Way Along the 7
Our favorite restaurants along the "International Express" #7 subway, listed by subway stop.
- New Astoria CSA - Bringing Local, Organic Produce to Astoria
There's a new Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program in central Astoria, which will be getting its greens and fruits from the Golden Earthworm Organic Farm out on Long Island. See Zora's take on CSAs, plus the recent Queens Chronicle article on CSAs. And don't forget your local farmers markets.
- Reality bites [Joey in Astoria]
Former Top Chef contestant Josie Smith-Malave works the kitchen at the new Island Café & Lounge (35-15 36th St, Long Island City, 718-433-0690). JIA quotes Time Out on the Mediterranean spot. Zora actually visits Island and finds "it's huge, it's glam, it's filled with glossy Greeks."
- London Lennie's [Eatery Row]
It's hard to tell whether the reviewer actually likes London Lennie's (63-88 Woodhaven Blvd, Rego Park, 718-894-8084) until he gets to the part about the excellent Blue Point oysters. Bottom line: old-school fish restaurant deserves respect, and that means you no "Giants cap on at the table."
- Mangos Bakery Steakhouse Bar [IAmaFeshionDesigner]
Unexpected Mangos (78-14 Roosevelt Ave, Jackson Heights, 718-639-3005) dazzles with its decor -- "urban, sleek and rather exotic, with great music" -- paired with Colombian pandebono cheese bread!
