Weekend Events in Queens — March 2-4
Friday March 2, 2007
Top Picks of the Weekend
- St. Patrick's Day Parades This Weekend - St. Patrick's Day always comes early to Queens, and we're fortunate to have two neighborhood parades this weekend, Saturday's parade in the Rockaways and Sunday's parade in Sunnyside. The forecast says it may rain on Saturday for the Rockaways parade, but if it doesn't, a high near 50 would mean Irish eyes are smiling. (Only polar bears like the Rockaways on a cold, windy day.)
- Phagwah Parade in Richmond Hill. Sunday is also your chance to catch this year's biggest parade in Richmond Hill -- the Indo-Caribbean Phagwah. There aren't any bagpipes, but expect chutney music and lots of exuberant "coloring." It's a lot of fun for the local kids.
- Happy Purim! - See events listed below on Sunday for celebrations in central and northeast Queens.

I cannot believe I haven’t discovered this blog before. A long time resident (well, 20 years, in Blissville, and finally telling stories about that corner of Queens, called Blissville, in ‘www.livinginblissville.blogspot.com’. So I love the picture of PS 1 and how terrific that you’re out there. I also work for a newspaper, and I’m always on the lookout for things to cover. Thanks!
