Mulchfest Cometh - Christmas Tree Collection and Recycling in NYC

Thursday December 28, 2006
NYC's 10th annual Mulchfest is coming up. Give the Park rangers your tree or wreath. If you have a bag, they'll give you mulch for your garden. You might even get a hot chocolate. It's good for the environment, and more fun than watching every last needle fall off.

Mulchfest in Queens: Saturday and Sunday, January 6 & 7, 2007, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  • Astoria Park, 19th St & Hoyt Ave
  • Cunningham Park, Parking Lot #2, Union Tpke & Francis Lewis Blvd
  • Forest Park Bandshell, Forest Park Dr, west of Woodhaven Blvd
  • Juniper Valley Park, Asphalt Ballfield, 80th St between N. Juniper & S. Juniper Blvds
  • Queens County Farm Museum, 73-50 Little Neck Pkwy & Commonwealth Blvd
  • Rockaway Beach, Shore Front Parkway & Beach 94th St (but no mulch for you, just drop-off)

Can't make it to the parks? Trees left out on the curb for trash collection from January 5 to January 16 will be collected and made into compost for City parks. Remove all decorations and do not put the tree in a bag.
