Restaurants in Astoria
Wednesday November 15, 2006
Some of my favorite NYC meals have been in Astoria. If you haven't eaten in the neighborhood in a while, you should go back to discover the new restaurants beyond the Czech beer garden and Greek seafood. There's a great range of ethnic eateries, and an increasing number of fine dining options that seemed to have hopped the river from Manhattan. Here's a rundown of new favorites and not-to-be-forgotten classics.
What's your opinion? Got a favorite or least favorite Astoria restaurant? Please share your tastes of Astoria eats in the comments.

Piccola Venezia in Astoria is probably the best Restaurant in all of New York. Their Fuzy Grappa and Osso Bucco are outstanding.
Had the most incredible panini yesterday at this new cafe around the corner from me. Its called il bambino and i am hooked!
Thanks for the tip, Cheryl!
As far as delis go, don’t forget Heliopolis– my favorite deli/cornerstore with the best olive bar, fresh homemade hummus and pita, and extensive european beer collection in all of Astoria. The management is so friendly, and the facility so clean, that it’s always a pleasure to stop in– and just next door to Omonia!!
Found a great place for soups, crostinis, paninis, coffees and dessert. The atmosphere is very cozy and inviting. It’s called Il Bambino and you’ll really be missing out on some truly delicious food if you don’t check this place out!!!
Thanks, Diana! Here’s our review of Il Bambino:

If you like picolla venenzia, You must try Punta Dura 41-15 34th Avenue. Their seafood is to die for. I highly reccomend this place. They Punta Dura for the HBO hit series Sopranos. their website. www.puntadura.com. check it out
Bartolino’s on Broadway is the only place now where I will eat authentic ITALIAN Not Croatian like Punta Dura or a few others in Astoria. The chef there cooks from old family receipes and they have a great romantice Italian decor. Worth the trip and they also have a great lounge next door to continue your evening after dinner.
The Brick Cafe is great!
You didn’t mention one of the best bakeries in Queens if not all of NYC - Artopolis on 31st Street near 23rd Ave. Go have pastry and coffee in the bakery - awesome!
