Star Trek Voyages to Astoria, Queens
Star Trek comes to the Museum of the Moving Image this October in the form of 40 years of fan culture. The museum's exhibit shows more than 600 items inspired by the TV and film phenomenon, including toys, action figures, games, and most interesting, fan-created films and magazines. Yes, we're talking serious geek culture, and serious fun for Trekkies.
Thirty fan films will be available for viewing at an interactive station. Think of them as pre-YouTube YouTube. And over the Columbus Day Weekend there's a screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, the best of the major films starring the original cast. It's a must for serious fans.
