Jammin' in Jamaica, Queens
Monday July 31, 2006
This weekend, August 4 and 5, is Jamaica's biggest street party, the Jamaica JAMS Festival. Friday night it's a live concert at King Park (home of Rufus King Manor), featuring Brazilian and R & B rhythms. Saturday is the main event, with Jamaica Avenue open only to pedestrians. There will be food, shopping, art, demonstrations, and music. For kids, there's an entire block devoted to free rides, popcorn, clowns, and face-painting. Plus there's an urban arts exhibit and tricked-out rides.
