They Came From Queens - John McEnroe From Douglaston
John McEnroe, one of tennis' greatest players, grew up in Queens, in Douglas Manor, the exclusive stretch of suburban Douglaston that noses into Little Neck Bay.
McEnroe's best tennis was serve-and-volley. A natural at the game, he had an adaptability, an unpredictability, and a speed on the court that helped him defeat many pros relying on powerful serves.
