Jackson Heights Tour

Monday June 5, 2006
Jackson Heights Jackson Heights celebrates its history as America's first planned garden community the weekend of June 10 and 11. See the Jackson Heights Beautification Group's calendar for details on all activities.

The two highlights are Saturday's self-guided visits to the private co-op gardens and Sunday's guided tours of the Jackson Heights historic district (photos). These are great opportunities to get to know one of the best communities in Queens and its famed architecture. Make sure to visit the Scrabble corner, marking Scrabble's birthplace.

Last year the weather was hot and muggy. If it's the same, revive with a lassi in Jackson Heights' Little India. Even better, an iced tea hits the spot at Ricky’s Cafe (75-02 37th Ave). A Thai iced tea at Arunee might even make your day.
