Oscar the Grouch Does Flushing

Monday May 1, 2006
Flushing Town Hall hosts a puppeteer exhibit starring Oscar the Grouch through the end of June. Along with the lovable garbage-can curmudgeon you'll find marionettes, Japanese bunraku, Balinese shadow puppets, rod puppets, and hand puppets of all sorts, including that of New York’s leading contemporary puppet artists -- but sadly not those of John Malkovich from Being John Malkovich.

The puppetry exhibit is also the Flushing Town Hall/Council 's first collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution. Yep, that's right. The Town Hall has been an affiliate of the Smithsonian since 2004.

  • 'With or Without Strings" Puppetry Exhibit
  • April 20 - June 18, 2006; Gallery: Daily noon – 5 p.m.
  • $5 Adults/Free for members and children under 16
  • Flushing Town Hall - Visitor Directions, 137-35 Northern Blvd, Flushing
