Jackson Heights Tour in April
Lovely Jackson Heights is urban geographer Jack Eichenbaum's subject later this month. Step away from claustrophobic Roosevelt Avenue and discover the co-ops in the neighborhood's historic district. Built mostly in the in 1920s and 1930s, they're well designed, often with large interior private gardens.
A walking tour like this is a great way to get to know the neighborhood, especially if you're considering a move. You'll get a sneak peek of spring plantings in a co-op's gardens -- and maybe even step inside. (There's only one day of the year when most of the gardens are open to the public, but that's not until the hot days summer.)
