New Photos at the Fisher Landau Center for Art

Thursday March 9, 2006
Have you ever been to the Fisher Landau Center for Art? Ever hear of it? Here's your excuse to discover a New York City secret.

The private museum recently acquired and has on display photos by Matthew Barney, Lynn Davis, Yinka Shonibare, and Kara Walker. (Thanks Meg for the tip.) Yes, Matthew Barney, big name. The others? Also greats.

Cool photos is one thing. Having a small museum to yourself is another. The Fisher Landau Center for Art is all on its lonesome in Dutch Kills, a neighborhood just north of Queens Plaza. Often there's only one or two visitors at this free high-quality art haven. Check it out this weekend (noon - 5 p.m. -- more times), but get there before April 10 when the photos come down.
