Astorian Weekend Edition - February 17
By Meg and Flooz of Joey in Astoria

Friday February 17, 2006
All recovered from the snowstorm and the gross slush on your stoop? Well, make room for this weekend's wind storm!

Now, storms make me hungry and maybe they do the same for you, so thankfully there are a few tasty options this weekend. There's the Venison Dinner at Koliba (31-11 23rd Ave). Or have a steak at the excellent Christos Taverna (41-08 23rd Ave) -- a.k.a. Christos Hasapo Taverna. Or Italian at Masso's (47-25 Vernon Blvd), a new restaurant in LIC. Later on Friday, go have some fun singing karaoke at the Albatross Bar (36-19 24th Ave), with Pepper Mills & Candy Samples. Festivities start at 11:30 p.m., with $6 pint specials and great mixed drinks.

On Saturday, Restless Natives, a group art show of native New Yorkers, opens at Local Project (21-36 44th Rd) in LIC with a reception at 7 p.m. Seth Goodwin, the Pain Proof Man, will be performing side-show acts.

Sunday, if you like to freeze, head out to Astoria Park for Ultimate Frisbee. Yep, they play when it's cold. All are welcome. at the informal and face-numbing games, starting around 3 p.m. Afterwards thaw and say hi at Freeze Peach (22-00 29th St), where Meg will be making the coffee and tea (4-8 p.m.).

And have a great day off on Monday! I suggest you sleep in.
