Holiday Week Shows for Kids

Tuesday December 27, 2005
Got kids? Then this vacation week can get long. Get out and about at two of Queens best cultural spots.

There's giant-sized puppetry at the Flushing Town Hall. On Wednesday it's Peter and the Wolf, followed by The Sound Mall, which uses puppets to introduce children to the science of sound (December 28, 2005, 2 p.m.).

And Thursday's performance is from the Beatrix Potter stories' Jemima Puddleduck and The Fierce Bad Rabbit (December 29, 2 p.m.). Either show costs $8 for adults, $6 for children (member discount). (Flushing Town Hall, 137-35 Northern Blvd, 718-463-7700 , tickets online)

Over in Astoria at the Museum of the Moving Image, the matinee Monday to Friday is Way Out West, the Laurel and Hardy spoof of Westerns (2 p.m., $10). Saturday's matinee is Babes in Toyland. Sunday there's more Laurel and Hardy and then Tron at 6 p.m.

The Moving Image is great for watching the films or checking out the interactive exhibits. They'll keep kids from 8 to 18 and adults entertained for an hour or two. And there's a special Gumby exhibits still up. (Museum of the Moving Image, 35th Ave at 36th St, 718-784-0077, schedule, free on Fridays 4-8 p.m.)
