Edgemere in the Rockaways

Forgotten NY's recent post explores Edgemere, once a seaside resort, now desolation on the sea. Despite the photos, there are inhabited, even thriving parts of Edgemere. But the Forgotten NY photos and words do capture a unique pocket of Queens, where developers aren't building. It's in sharp contrast to the rapid development of Averne, just west of Edgemere, and the $$ million plus homes on the western end of the Rockaway peninsula.
