Aqueduct Open for the Season

Monday November 7, 2005
Aqueduct Horse Racing Track opened for the fall season on November 3. The fall season runs until December 31, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except for today, Election Day. It's also closed on November 9 and for the holidays from December 19 to 27.

NYRA, the New York State horse-racing organization that oversees Aqueduct, Belmont, and Saratoga, has been mismanaged and is danger of running out of operating cash (see Newsday). If NYRA can make it through the next 12 months, there's hope because next fall video slot machines make their debut at Aqueduct. That's right -- legal slot gambling is coming to Queens.
