Tour of Flushing Avenue

Tuesday September 27, 2005
This Saturday urban geographer Jack Eichenbaum leads a walking tour from Brooklyn...er...Kings to Queens along Flushing Avenue. Discover the colonial past of this asphalt avenue. It was once a horse-and-wagon route connecting colonial Williamsburg, Newtown (Elmhurst), and Flushing.

The route goes from East Williamsburg at Newtown Creek toward beautiful Ridgewood, stopping at the Onderdonk House, a surviving Dutch farmhouse, and continuing onto Grand Avenue in Maspeth. From there, catch a bus back to Brooklyn or farther into Queens.

  • Flushing Avenue: Kings to Queens - Walking Tour
  • October 1, 2005, 1-3:30 p.m.; $11 non-members, $9 members, $8 seniors/students
  • Meet at Union Ave/Metropolitan Ave in E. Williamsburg. Take the G to Metropolitan or L to Lorimer Street.
  • Sponsored by Brooklyn Center for Urban Environment; call for more info: 718-788-8500 x208
