Astoria now has its own Japanese convenience store -- Family Market on Broadway. One of the great pleasures of a Japanese convenience store is the variety of drinks available. Family Market has my favorites: Calpis (yogurt-flavored soda) and Royal Milk Tea (chilled English tea with plenty of milk and sugar). You can also stock up on Japanese frozen treats and perennial snack fave Pocky, but sadly no anime or manga. It's a fine pit-stop on the way to the Socrates Sculpture Park.

OH I wish I was closer to New York and not clear on the other side of the US! I spent 5 amazing years in Japan and would love to have a Royal Milk Tea in a nearby convenience store!
