NYC Chinese Beauty Pageant -- And the 36 Chambers of Shaolin

Wow! This Friday night Astoria has it all, or at least beauty pageant finalists and kung fu flicks. At the Museum of the Moving Image finalists from the Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant 2005 will be on hand for the screening of the classic 1978 kung fu film 36 Chambers of Shaolin. The pageant finalists also star that night in a short martial arts film, by director Kim Wang of Queens.

For all Quentin Tarantino fans, the hero of the 36 Chambers is actor Chia Hui Liu, aka Gordon Liu, or Uma Thurman's kung fu tutor in Kill Bill, Volume 2.
