Mary Pierce in US Open Final

Saturday September 10, 2005
Tonight Mary Pierce faces Kim Clijsters. of Belgium, in the Women's Singles Final at the US Open. Pierce is a veteran player at 30 years old who's playing some of the best tennis of her career. This is her first appearance at the US Open finals. Earlier this year she lost in the French Open Finals to Justine Henin-Hardenne.

Though she competes under the French flag, Mary is also an American. She holds dual citizenship, and was born in Canada to a French mother and an American father. That national tie lets Mary compete for the French team in the Davis Cup.
