Eating and Drinking at the US Open

I am getting very excited about the US Open (the most watched sporting event in the U.S., even if it does take two weeks to watch the whole tennis "event.") What I'm not excited about is eating at the Open.

Yes, the food at the US Open's restaurants and food courts is fine and tasty. You can find everything from fresh salads and burgers to cocktails and full-course dinners. The problem is the price. It kills me to spend $10 or more for a simple lunch at the food court. And the Open Club, Aces, and the Champions Bar & Grill are great choices if you've got the bucks to spend (call for reservations - 718-393-1933).

So here's my solution. Hit up Queens restaurants on the way to or from the Open. You want fine Italian dining? Try Il Toscano, a few LIRR stops from the Open. Or some of the best Indian and Colombian food in New York? Try Jackson Heights, a few hops down the #7 subway. Or Chinese, Thai, or Korean? Just one more stop on the #7 to downtown Flushing. Or Malaysian? Queens got it. See more dining options along the #7 International Express.
