Queens Assemblyman Goes After Google

Assemblyman Michael Gianaris has complained to search engine Google about the satellite images the company provides through Google Earth and Google Maps (See NY Post article: Goofy Google Grinch). Gianaris claims the images, when zoomed in, are so detailed that terrorists could use them to great advantage in causing mayhem. Google responded that the company had contacted the Department of Defense about its imagery, which does exclude certain sensitive areas, but has received no concerns about its use.

I don't know if they're detailed enough to be dangerous, but for certain, the shots of Earth are beautiful. Have you checked out Queens via Google Maps? Here are a few famous sites (works best in Firefox browser):

Wow, this guy is really a nutcase. Where does it all stop, when we have chips embedded in us so that they can “protect” us from everything?????? I’ve had enough of this type of government. Freedom is not secured by living in a vacuum. Freedom is messy. Freedom is inherently unsafe. I’ll take my chances without his type saving me from myself.
