Long Island City's Beach

Tuesday August 9, 2005
Hunters Point, the Queens neighborhood with the hottest real estate, just added beach-front property. NY Water Taxi has built a beach on the East River open for lounging, sunbathing, and beer drinking Thursdays to Sundays until Labor Day. Astoria's Joey mentioned it here last week and it's been in all the newspapers.

But if you work in Long Island City and usually leave by night, here's an excuse to hit the beach. This Thursday evening the Long Island City Business Development Corporation (LIBDC) hosts a networking and charity event at the beach. A $20 donation gets you beer, wine, and sangria plus tacos, burgers, and hot dogs. RSVP to LIBDC's Marion Loy at 718-786-5300 x21 or marionloy@licbdc.org.

  • Thursday, August 11, 2005, 6 - 8 p.m.
  • Enter from 2nd Street, near Borden Avenue, Long Island City, NY (map)
